A Dus Christmas

I love Christmas!

Can I reiterate how much I love it?  Because I do.  It's glorious.

One:  It's the birth of our King.
Two:  So much glitz and glam, sparkles and twinkles, cookies and candies, music and singing, and just really jolly fun people.
Three:  I get to eat as much as a want and then make a resolution to start out the new year to loose it all.  AKA... pretend to work out and make a big change but really just start my normal routine of eating in moderation with a run here and a sit up somewhere.

This year was extra fun though.  We had so many of Rylee's firsts!  We started out our Christmas celebration which by the way lasted for 10 whole days at Ol' Grammy and Papa Dus's house.  The other 2 grandkids nicknames them that so we are just following tradition.

We started it off right with some Christmas cookie decorating.  Rylee even got in on the action.  But note to self:  Do not give her homemade frosting.  The powder sugar becomes like glue!  She did not enjoy the clean-up.  Also, second note to self:  Tell the other cousins not to feed her any decorated cookies.  I turn around and find Rylee eating Sugar Dots off a cookie and had to go fishing for 2 more just soaking in her mouth!  I may have had a faint heart attack.  But the bright side is at least they like to share.

We also went sledding one morning.  Rylee didn't quite have any expressions the whole time.  Probably b/c she couldn't move any limb of her body and her hat kept covering her eyes so she basically sat and experienced it in the dark.   But she was warm.

Patiently waiting on the Dus Family.  :)  I tease they run on a different time schedule than the rest of the world.  But they are lovely and worth the wait.

One thing Steve and I both learned when taking Rylee sledding.  Use the hands to stop or steer, the boots tend to kick up snow right in Rylee's face.  She tends not to enjoy that so much.

Then we started the gift opening after church and a hockey game.  Rylee found her first bow and was content the rest of the morning.

But then the swing came and she decided this was WAY cooler so we opened in this for the remainder of the presents.

Really Mom?

Opening presents is exhausting!  I'm spent...

Merry Christmas Dus Family!  Thanks for such a fun weekend.  We had a blast and made so many special memories.  Miss you already.
