Finally!
After way over a year, I have my new website up.
It's amazing how behind on stuff you can get when a 7 pound human being enters your world.
Actually that's kind of a lie... I could have completed this long ago but decided to cuddle and enjoy the smiles of the two kids instead.
But here it is.
www.carlyddesign.com
And with the new design of the website, a new blog also is here.
www.carlyddesign.com/blog
I won't be posting here anymore. But my blog will continue to be about my family, my designs and my life. So read about my past here and stay-up-to-date with what's going on in our crazy live's here. For instance... my first temper-tantrum happened today. Probably will write about that "fun" experience soon. All I have to say is... not cool.
But give me feedback on the new site. I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Sweetest Day
How sweet is this couple.
They intentionally are getting married on the "Sweetest Day" which is October 18th.
So don't forget to bestow your romantic gestures to the ones you love.
I'll have to drop a strong hit to Steve that he should start honoring this Midwestern holiday.
psst... gentlemen... every year it's the third Saturday of October.
Just sayin'.

Bridal Shower Gift
Summer is so fun in Minnesota for many reason but one of the top ones is it's wedding season! Today, I had a bridal shower for a beautiful soon-to-be-bride. As an added bonus to her gift, I made some personalized cards.
I wanted to play off the fact that she is getting married and building their home together. Love + new house... naturally = love birds and a bird house.
Plus she has a gorgeous vintage feel to her wedding and to match her invitations I went with the same grocery bag cardstock.

A Different Kind of Religious Card
How is it that there are so many great cards out there but when it comes to religious cards... there are few. I find that they are all of waterfalls, prairies, sunrises. And I understand; it's God's beautiful creation. But how about something simple. Classic. And not so in your face.
Enter these cards.
I wanted to pick my favorite verses, but more so, verses that could be used to celebrate multiple occasions.
Ephesians 2:10. "For you are God's Masterpiece." Sounds perfect for a new baby, a graduation, maybe even a birthday. There is no baby, girl, woman, even man out there that isn't His masterpiece. He created ALL of us perfectly. And he created us all to do the good he planned for us.
Isaiah 41:10 - simply put... there is not a more powerful verse in my eyes. The sense of peace that takes over my heart is a moment changer.
2 Chronicles 5:13 - Meditate on this. No matter what... no matter what we did. His love endures forever and his love is for each of us.
Sermon finished.
And I'm trying something new this time around. No packs. You choose. Just let me know what card and how many. And there is no minimum order.
$3 for 1, $2.75 for 2, $2.50 for 3+ (shipping extra)
and you can buy on my etsy site as usual or just Facebook message or email me carly@carlyddesign.com

Sarah Marie
Um... yes.
Love this.
Sarah has been doing photography for fun almost all her life but being a stay at home mom, housewife, and home schooler has left little time for her passion. But she's decided it's time for her. Time for her to pursue her passion and do what she loves. So when she asked me to help her out, I dropped everything and we started working. (really I didn't have much on my plate so it was easy to drop everything.)
Logo:
Sarah had some specific and simple requests.
Create something simple.
And I would love to incorporate a heart.
Maybe grays and pinks?
Facebook:
Then I helped with her Facebook.
I'm a firm believer that people want to see what you look like as a business owner
so putting your image in your profile picture is always appealing.
And how sweet is this.
She writes her two daughters journals.
Each journal entry ends with her saying, "Forever and a day."
Business Card:
Just something simple and sweet with a little whimsy.
And I'm obsessed with kraft paper right now so we went with that.

Thanks Miss Sarah Marie for letting me help you create your image. I can't wait to see your work now and all that you'll capture in life's many moments.

A For Everything - Card Pack
I should have designed these cards sooner with all the events we've had - bachelorette parties, showers, weddings, babies, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, dog parties... just kidding no dog parties.. Although I'm sure one of these cards would work for that.
Anyways, I wanted to create a card pack that you could have on hand for any event and any type of situation. Most of the cards could be used for multiple occasions. "A forever kind of love." Well that sounds good for an anniversary, wedding or shower. Or guys.... if there are guys that actually read this blog. Maybe you need to just give this to that sweet little Miss or Mrs of yours and remind her that she is the forever kind of love that you were looking for.
Same with sympathy or get well cards or to the friend that just had a bad day and you want to cheer them up. These are the absolute worst cards to pick out at the store. Some are just way to mushy and gushy and depressing. All you really want to say is, Hey friend..."Sending love and a hug just for you" today. Simple, sweet, and comforting.
I also have a problem with having a Happy Birthday, Happy Annviversary, Happy Employee of the Month Day, Happy Honor Roll, Happy you just rock Day card. Sometimes you just need a random Happy card at home. Like, "Wishing you more than just happiness on your special day." And you can make that special day whatever you want it to be.
And baby cards... every where I look I see pregnant people and babies being born into this world. And you end up getting them lots of cards. A congrats your pregnant card, a baby shower card, a welcome to the world card... How about a "There's nothign so sweet and so special." card. Because seriously... there isn't.
Then you just need that card to say, hey grandma or hey long distance friend or here is the money I owe you or dude you owe me money but you want to say it in a nice way. So you send "A little note to say hello to you" card.
Sales pitch over.
Now to the details.
4x6 cards, 80# linen card stock
Grocery bag envelope included.
1 design of each (5 cards) - $10,
2 designs of each (10 cards) - $18
3 designs of each (15 cards) - $26
($2 to ship)

Father's Day Cards
After I saw Steve hold Rylee for the very first time, I'm a sucker for Daddy's and their little girls. So even though this card may not be the most marketable (sorry sons), it's my favorite. I love it. All I wanted my card to say was "little girl" and somewhere to put always. Because it's true. We are always little girls to our daddys. We never grow out of it.
Father's Day Card
Folded to 4x6, 105# stardreams cover, grocery bag envelopes will be included.
$2.50 a card,
$2.25 a card for 2 or more,
$2.00 a card for 4 or more.
Shipping is $1.

First Wedding Invite
Did my first wedding invitation! And I couldn't have asked for a better couple. They new exactly what they wanted but were as sweet as can be. I pray all brides are just like her. I'm guessing that's doubtful.
The couple has a very vintage but clean look to the wedding. We choose clean lines and simplicity. Less is more and in this case it definitely was. Their colors were navy and peach so we chose a bright white cardstock that has an ever so slight shimmer to it. Now if only my photography skills were halfway decent I'd be able to show you.
Thanks John and Rachel. Praying for beautiful weather, a gorgeous wedding, and joy to fill your hearts on this very special day.

Anytime Fitness - Postcards
My sister and brother-in-law are starting a new Anytime Fitness in Brooklyn Park. By obligation, I'm sure, when they needed marketing materials and a graphic designer, they contacted me to help them out.
They asked to keep it simple, clean and only to say "thank you."
So I did and they turned out great. I love them and they said they did or so they told me so.
And remember to like them on Facebook! They give great nutritional, wellness and fitness tips.

NDC
Diane and Sarah were great to work with on developing their new look for NDC. They were even so kind to come to my house during nap time and smooch all over my new baby at the time who was suppose to be napping. Thanks for being so flexible you two.
Here were my instructions. Clean, simple with a combination of whimsical and straight lined fonts. No images but separate out NDC. It took us a few edits but we finally came up with a logo and business card they loved.
or I hope you love it!
Thanks for providing me this opportunity.
When I need new window treatments or interior design advice... I'm calling you two.
And remember to like them on facebook!

Moxie
I had the absolute privileged to work with Lindsey on developing her brand. Everything she did and chose for her design had a reason and I loved that. And she's super passionate about fitness and nutrition so I got a few tips along the way!
I helped Linds develop her logo. Moxie. And it's one of my absolute favorites of all times. I love the simplicity of it.
I also designed her business card.
It meant a lot to Linds to put the definition of Moxie b/c it describes who she is and where she wants her company to go. And I loved designing with that.
This is Lindsey's Facebook cover page. I have her twitter page designed as well but I'm having some issues with formatting. Anyone want to enlighten me on how to do this?
Thanks Lindsey for giving me the opportunity to help develop your brand. But who am I kidding you had it all in that thought-out driven brain of yours... I just helped put it on paper (actually computer.)
Note:
I highly suggest "liking" her page on Facebook. Moxie will have awesome and useful fitness, nutritional and healthy lifestyle tips.

Moxie [mox-see or mak-see] noun. 1. Force of character, determination or nerve; it's that intangible tangible, you can't read about it or learn it, it comes from deep within; 2. David had it, Goliath didn't; 3. it can be as small as a mustard seed but move mountains; it says "Nothing is impossible. I do not know how to fail." .

Mother's Day Cards
Now that Easter is over we can start thinking about the next holiday. Mother's Day!
My inspiration: Tangled.
Rylee absolutely loves Tangled... she actually calls it Rapunzel's hair. And last year for her birthday a friend bought her a princess castle with a Rapunzel "little people" that is absolutely adorable. Rylee plays with it all the time.
One of the features on the princess castle is that it says 3 things from that character and then sings a song. Well one just happens to be when Rapunzel yells out "BEST DAY EVER!" and Rylee almost always yells with it... well, most of the time she just gets out "EVER!" And she just happened to be playing when I was trying to come up with ideas...
So enter... Best Mom Ever Cards.
I also wanted to do something a little different for this card. I got such great response on the grocery bag style envelopes that I thought... why not cards. I also wanted create something that could be used for mother's day but also beyond. Mom's should be celebrated year around (dad's too) so order a few extra to send to your mom on her birthday, after a great weekend where she worked her tail off hosting everyone, or just to say "mom you really are the best mom ever."
There are also Grandmother cards. These are on the same grocery bag paper but say something a little different.
Price: $2.50 a card, $2.25 a card for 2 or more, $2.00 a card for 4 or more.
(shipping = $1)
