This last weekend we headed down to Onalaska to celebrate Christmas with the Dus's. By the way, Onalaska is not actually on Alaska. It's a city outside of LaCrosse. Many people were confused when they first met Steve.
I must admit I was as well.
It was an amazing weekend of hockey, more hockey, lights, cookies, food and more food. Food that could probably feed the whole town of Onalaska.
Friday night we went to Onalaska's Junior Hockey team's game. The Chill. I do like hockey but got a little A.D.D. Why? 1. I don't know any of the players. I find hockey or any sport to be more fun when you know who you are watching. 2. The Dus family knows hockey. So they don't do the normal fun stuff like chat, drink hot chocolate, constantly say... I can't find the puck, totally missed that goal, what does that mean Steve. You know stuff like that. Instead they talk strategy and use words I don't understand.
Saturday was a nice morning of sleeping in. Oh the joys of sleeping in. Love how the sun wakes you up... and the smell if Iris's cooking. mmmm.... Well after a morning of a good hearty breakfast, Steve and I wondered off to the Valley View Mall in LaCrosse. We had some last minute shopping and some Gloria Jeans to visit.
If you don't know Gloria.... shame on you. My favorite place to get coffee. And the only place I can visit her is in the Eau Claire and LaCrosse mall. In this aspect, MN disappoints me. Gloria doesn't live in these places anymore.
After we wondered around and bought Steve some clothes and Steve some gifts and Steve dragging me out of Baby Gap, we went to decorate some cookies.
I'm not a big fan of eating these cookies but I sure love decorating them and rarely do it. So we kicked out the boys and got to work.
We had some fun too :)Morgan is still working on crossing her eyes. I taught her that a while back. However, she's having trouble with keeping the eyes open as you can see.
Then onto a gingerbread house.
Then my favorite part about celebrating Christmas in Onalaska was next.
Rotary Lights.
There is about a billion... maybe bazillion or gazillion lights down that the LaCrosse Riverside Park. So fun to walk through. Picture don't do it justice so you'll just have to visit some day. Plus they have actual reindeer and Santa is usually there.
Steve and I usually try to get one picture each time we visit...
he loves me.
Then went home, thawed out, and opened the presents.
There were a few Grand winners this year but I think this one took the icing on the cake.
Scott talked forever about this red Christmas bell he had growing up. So Iris went on a mad hunt down in her basement to find this Christmas bell for her son. Well after nights, literally nights, of hunting for it... the bell returned.
But Broken.
So Rick spent hours taking clocks apart, hunting for supplies to fix this bell.
But it was all worth it. Scott now has his Christmas bell. Christmas is complete for him.
Last before we headed out of town on Sunday we went to open skate. Look at these little peanuts go.They are way better than I am that's for sure.
Doesn't take much.
Oh and this little peanut on the left. Trenton. He might be my favorite. I try not to play favorites with my neices and nephews but this weekend he won out for 2 reasons.
1. He is the only one to ever catch on to pouder. Pouder is a cute way of saying butt. And he says it all the time. Love it. No other little kids do, mainly because their parents find that word to be weird. I however find it to be way cute. Along with his little pouder. which brings me to 2.
2. His little pouder crack is always showing because he's so tiny! Look how his cute little pants hang off his pouder.
