Our Little Family Christmas

Steve and I don't have any traditions for our Christmas yet. The last couple of years we celebrated it on a random night the week before Christmas. However, our nights were stacked full with activities, work, and even a birthday party. So we celebrated it Friday morning before we headed out for the Freiborg Family Winter Classic.

We've never celebrated in the morning so this was new territory. So we just decided to have a quiet and relaxing morning in our sweats.

We filled each other's stockings.

Ate a nice home cooked meal of Chocolate Chip Pancakes with our special snowman mugs.

And then opened our stockings.

We also had a stocking for Baby D. And since baby can't necessarily open presents, we decided to do something a little different. Steve was to put a stocking stuffer that I could enjoy with Baby D in there and I was to put a gift in that Steve might enjoy with Baby D. This way it was still a surprise.

Steve gave Baby D and I the most adorable pink ruffled swimsuit I've ever seen so we can enjoy the lake together as well as my other favorite past time activity, a book to read. The book even had a finger puppet! And I gave Steve and Baby D a baseball mitt and ball. He's going to teach her to not throw like a girl. Cuz Momma does.

We also gave each other stocking stuffers. Steve did his normal, prepare right before. He was actually trying to get it all figured out while I was cooking the pancakes :) He claims he's used to doing his shopping on Christmas Eve like every other guy so opening the day before really threw him off.

But the present was worth it. He gave me a Bed and Breakfast stay down to Lansboro. It's our getaway before Baby D comes. So excited. The plan is to go early March.

I have known for a really long time what I was going to get Steve. Steve is known for getting lost. Extremely lost and turned around. Just 2 days before we opened he was in White Bear Lake at a hockey game recruiting. He got a little mixed up on his way home to Cottage Grove and ended up in Maple Grove!!! Clearly way off course. He said he just wanted to take the extra 30 minute drive to see the scenic route.

The sad thing is... this happens about once a month. So Steve got a Garmin. His sanity will be spared. And mine.

Then we finished off the morning with my favorite Christmas movie. It's a classic. We snuggled and watched Elf.
