Operation Baby Room

Today I'm posting a little later than normal. For starters I can barely breathe and my head feels like it's a balloon ready to pop. The super bummer part is you can't even take anything for it. I cheated though... don't' worry I checked with a nurse, and took some NyQuil last night. I figured after 3 nights of barely sleeping, I better take at least something. So I did. And it was not quite glorious by any means but better.

So today I forced myself to sleep in. First time sleeping in was a chore. Then got up and decided to get some fresh air. So I went to Steve's work with some potbelly's to contaminate it. I guess lots of people are sick there as well. So I went to Ikea to spread the wealth of germs... tons of kids were there so they beat me to it. But I did buy a rug for Baby D's room. Not my favorite but still super cute and only $20! I guess better than spending $500 on the Home Depot one I loved. Then I picked up the paint, grabbed a coffee, and now I'm home.

I'm really hoping this weekend we can at least get all the painting done because I have this problem. Once a project is on my mind... it doesn't go away until it's finished. I literally can't think of anything else besides will this color look good, is it too dark, do I really want to paint the trim, what accessories will go well with the room, is it too early to buy that really cute pillow that will go perfectly with the bedroom, I really like that clock idea... anyways you get it. It drives me nuts and I know it drives Steve bonkers so I keep my ideas to myself usually unless they are really good.

So here's what Operation Baby Room entails:
  • Color Scheme: Gray, Yellow, and White
  • Gray walls
  • White Trim (I hate painting trim) In fact we are also replacing the rest of the trim in the house that is painted to new trim that is a nice wood stained trim.
  • Dark Espresso wood
  • Yellow curtains
  • Gray with white rug
  • And then two projects
Project one:
We'd put family photos instead of artwork but I'm having trouble finding this. The frames would be easy to find it's the free floating clock (whatever you call it)
Anyone know where to find one? I'd love you forever if you'd share with me.
Project two:
Obviously not Harper but our girl name. Which I'm sorry but we are keeping a secret. But we don't have one picked out yet.
There will be more added but that's all I have in mind for right now. Well I have more in mind but that's all up in the air.

Oh and thanks pinterst for the ideas!

Top 5 of 2011

2011 has been an amazing year. So many very fun things have happened. It was hard to narrow down but here is what we believe to be our top 5 throughout the year.

5. I started a company... whoop whoop. It's slowly starting to come together and take off. Praise God!
4. Steve and I went to visit his Bestman in Toronto and had an unforgettable time.

We hung out at Dave's place. Newley renovated.

Visited the Hockey Hall of Fame. Mostly for Steve.

Hung out at his cottage and acted like goof balls.

Dave and I beat Steve and Dave's dad 3 times in a row at bags. No big deal.

Miss you Dave!

3. Went skydiving! What.... A... Rush! We WILL do it again someday.

2. We gave our testimony at church and then were baptized. Such a rejuvinating day. Forever in my heart.

1. And... of course we found out we're pregnant with a little girl.

Thanks 2011! We had a great year with you.

3rd Annual Freiborg Family Winter Classic

This last weekend was the 3rd annual Freiborg Family Winter Classic. Well actually just Christmas at my side but we name our get togethers. Kind of corny. But I love it.

We started it off with a bang by enjoying a beautiful Saturday morning out on the lake. Steve went all out and got a fire going. Not just any fire... it was huge!

Then we got our skates on. Steve just left me there so Ryan stepped up as the good brother-in-law well soon-to-be and helped me out.

Thanks Steve.

Mom even got hers out of the vintage closet :)

And showed us some of her moves. Toe Pick!
The lake was perfect. Even a little scary. Have you ever been on a frozen body of water?... It howls and makes noises and even cracks beneath you. I almost pooped my pants a few times. I got used to it after a while though. Well I had to because Mom kept making fun of me. We posed for some memorable pics as well.

I showed Ryan some of my moves.

Then Steve... which aren't many. Actually I just try and stay up on two feet. Which was a success even though I almost biffed it nearly 25 times. Then we became adventerous. Abs tried snowboarding behind the 4-wheeler. It was a fail.

These two put their heads together on why it didn't work.

Turns out not enough snow. Really? In Minnesota? At Christmas time?

But the no snow worked perfect for the knee board. These two made sure to tape it all. Some footage is like the blair witch project but still entertaining. A little sea sickening though.

Dad had so much fun on it he hogged it the whole time. Well not the whole time but a long time. He even started cocking off to Ryan, who was driving, that he was too boring. So Ryan swung him out wide and put him into the shoreline full of rocks.

Seems like every year Ryan is breaking something. Last year he pegged Mom with the tennis ball while playing boot hockey right in the nose drawing blood. This year it was almost Dad's hips. He never hears any grief for this either :)

So Dad took him for a ride. But was nice. I do think he fell off though.

Then we ended up the day going to church and enjoyed a nice meal. By then my older sister's family came into town just in time to open presents Christmas day morning.

Steve wore his special shirt. And Baby D got another present!

Along with a million others... not all hers though ;)

The kids loved it.

I loved the fact that we were all still in our pjs.

Avery even got one that was 10 times her size. Same with Dad. He had no idea what it was.

I guess why should he? The anticipation was killing him though.

What is it? Oh...... A ski!

You mean I don't have to ski on a ski anymore made for 140 pounders?

No Dad it's your very own.

Then after a morning of presents, more presents, and an endless supply of them. We went back outside. We were excited to show Jena our hidden treasure of the knee board.

Avery brought down our fire supplies again.

And Jena hopped right on the knee board. We could do this all day! We actually did too.

Even Grandma wanted a try.
She rocked it. And then bragged about it. I would too if I were her.

Are you sick of all the pictures yet?

Hold on one more.

Well the day continued on with playing out side. The Jena's family left and we were all exhausted. So we popped in a movie and some of us fell asleep. We had to rest up for our Christmas tradition of Fonduing.

I love to Fondue. I wish we could do every meal like this.

And then the weekend ended. But it was a great one.

Our Little Family Christmas

Steve and I don't have any traditions for our Christmas yet. The last couple of years we celebrated it on a random night the week before Christmas. However, our nights were stacked full with activities, work, and even a birthday party. So we celebrated it Friday morning before we headed out for the Freiborg Family Winter Classic.

We've never celebrated in the morning so this was new territory. So we just decided to have a quiet and relaxing morning in our sweats.

We filled each other's stockings.

Ate a nice home cooked meal of Chocolate Chip Pancakes with our special snowman mugs.

And then opened our stockings.

We also had a stocking for Baby D. And since baby can't necessarily open presents, we decided to do something a little different. Steve was to put a stocking stuffer that I could enjoy with Baby D in there and I was to put a gift in that Steve might enjoy with Baby D. This way it was still a surprise.

Steve gave Baby D and I the most adorable pink ruffled swimsuit I've ever seen so we can enjoy the lake together as well as my other favorite past time activity, a book to read. The book even had a finger puppet! And I gave Steve and Baby D a baseball mitt and ball. He's going to teach her to not throw like a girl. Cuz Momma does.

We also gave each other stocking stuffers. Steve did his normal, prepare right before. He was actually trying to get it all figured out while I was cooking the pancakes :) He claims he's used to doing his shopping on Christmas Eve like every other guy so opening the day before really threw him off.

But the present was worth it. He gave me a Bed and Breakfast stay down to Lansboro. It's our getaway before Baby D comes. So excited. The plan is to go early March.

I have known for a really long time what I was going to get Steve. Steve is known for getting lost. Extremely lost and turned around. Just 2 days before we opened he was in White Bear Lake at a hockey game recruiting. He got a little mixed up on his way home to Cottage Grove and ended up in Maple Grove!!! Clearly way off course. He said he just wanted to take the extra 30 minute drive to see the scenic route.

The sad thing is... this happens about once a month. So Steve got a Garmin. His sanity will be spared. And mine.

Then we finished off the morning with my favorite Christmas movie. It's a classic. We snuggled and watched Elf.
