Freiborg Family Spring Fling (aka Easter) happened early this year. Mainly due to Steve and I. We are headed to be all romantic at 38 weeks pregnant to Lansboro to a Bed and Breakfast. I may be swollen, moodie, huge, and walking with a waddle but by golly we are going to enjoy our time.
So we say peace out Easter bunny see you next year.
But we did get to celebrate and do our annual traditions. Easter egg coloring and an Easter egg hunt. So I guess the Easter Bunny didn't peace out but bounced in early for the Freiborgs.
We started the morning with a delicious breakfast cooked by miss Stephanie (that would be the boss of the household), enjoyed us a cup of coffee from one of the slowest brewing coffee pots, and enjoyed our morning lounge while the kids played in the room next to us.
Finally we got our butts rolling and onto one of my favorite activities. Coloring Easter eggs. I don't want to brag... but I will. If we had a contest each year for best egg, I'd probably take home the trophy. Well, last year was the first time my title was stripped from me and Jena, my older sister, took it home.
A fluke.
Things have changed though. Now the kids want in. I enjoy this thoroughly but this means I have to be all nice and help them out. This was a really hard thing for me to do. The eggs are no longer split evenly between us three girls but are now mostly given to the two young ones. A hard realization for me to grasp. Also, coloring no longer involves time, patience, creativity and talent. The eggs are now just dumped, stuck, and thrown. Meaning just dumped in the color for a few seconds, stuck with stickers and then thrown on a plate before they are even dry!
I know it sounds silly.
I have issues.
I even have a hard time coloring with them b/c I get protective of my coloring page. Why do they have to always color on my page? Why do they make a few scribbles and then move onto the next picture? Why????
I may be a horrible mom when it comes to activities. Or better yet... Baby D will learn fast. Don't mess with mama!
But I took the high road and only took time on one Easter egg last Saturday and let the kids have the rest. I even let Mason help me out.
Oh and while we were coloring eggs, the men were all manly and watched Alvin and the Chipmunks.
You would have thought it was the best movie they've seen
